I do the same thing with fighting trying to get it right. I think it's my perfectionism. If something isn't perfect I want to keep trying and trying and trying, but that doesn't work with horses. It just burns them out. So yeah . . . I gotta work on that too lol.Achieve1dreamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15401246064499148344noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4855187223809114916.post-56945557872657738552012-05-18T06:25:50.580-07:002012-05-18T06:25:50.580-07:00I am a HUGE believer in letting a horse be if they...I am a HUGE believer in letting a horse be if they give you what you ask for. Why keep pressing the button if you know it works? All that achieves is a broken button.

My horse is a rearer. She had a time where she would go up every ride, and it frightened me. I finally realized I just had to let her go up, then do the one rein pull down and GROWL at her to let her know it was not ok. She hardly ever goes up now, and if she does it doesn't bother me. You learn to catch them before they go too far up anyway ;)Lisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15121469297442797836noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4855187223809114916.post-81163868993435023222012-05-17T13:20:29.190-07:002012-05-17T13:20:29.190-07:00I ride a horse at the barn who does that same ting...I ride a horse at the barn who does that same ting to me--every time I ask him to actually go forward, he pins his ears, drops behind my leg, and throws his head up. It's generally a precursor to him going forward, but it immediately puts me into PANIC: REAR COMING mode. Yikes.

Glad you two found a way to work quietly. Very good.SprinklerBandithttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02948487857418394022noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4855187223809114916.post-36803254717712537082012-05-17T13:18:57.900-07:002012-05-17T13:18:57.900-07:00I also will fight with my mare till I win, and she...I also will fight with my mare till I win, and she is just as stubborn. I need to remember to end on a good note even if it isn't an perfect note. That saddle looks tinny tiny on her. Dang!Mirandahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07368532091786233188noreply@blogger.com
